DesBarres Manor Inn

We were visiting from Ontario on a father and son trip around Nova Scotia. For our final night, we booked dinner here while staying at Distillery House. Bonnie and Anne were wonderful, and there were so many interesting flavours from the appetizer through dessert. The dining room was lovely too. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived until we left. Highly recommend a visit!

We got caught out when everything closed early and had no supper lined up for six adults and five kids. The staff kindly put together sandwiches and brought us apples and yogurt. They even made sprinkle pancakes for my two-year-old, who loved them. The rooms were fantastic, service was amazing, and everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Highly, highly recommend.

That dessert was a real highlight: flaky pastry with pudding inside, fresh raspberry sauce, and chocolate sauce decorating the edge of the plate. It looked beautiful and tasted wonderful. I was there for the Guysborough Academy prom dinner, which I think was turkey, and it was prepared excellently. The staff served us promptly and professionally, with vegetarian options available. The place itself was beautiful, with a scenic backyard that made for great photos.

I’ve been here a few times with my family, and it’s always been a lovely experience. The rooms could do with some updating, but it’s a beautiful place and the staff are among the friendliest I’ve met. The food is incredible too. Don’t hesitate to stay here.
