Haileybury Beach Motel

The view is great, and the owner is kind, but the rooms are dated and horribly dirty. Please don’t check them with a UV light. I had to wait 15 minutes for a key because the owner was busy with the restaurant, even though my room was already paid for. They’re understaffed, and the motel doesn’t seem to run smoothly or stay clean. We won’t be back, especially since they charge as much as a hotel.

The view of Lake Temiskaming was the highlight, and the location is perfect for relaxing and taking in the area’s natural beauty. It was our first time at The Beach Motel, and the service was friendly and accommodating. We were thoroughly impressed with our stay at Haileybury Beach Motel!

Despite the good location and service, I wouldn’t stay here again. The room smelled very stale, and I suspect people had been smoking inside or just outside. The sheets were stained and dirty, while the bed and chairs also showed wear and stains. The AC unit had mould, though the shower and bathroom were clean. I know outdated rooms are common in a small town motel, but this level of dirt was hard to overlook. Given its location near the beach and the small community, the motel has potential. They should at least throw out the disgusting sheets and chairs. I imagine the better reviews come from better times.

The only issue for us was the bed in Room 7. We booked one double for three nights, and while it was comfortable, it was smaller than a typical double, so felt a little tight for the two of us. Next time we’ll book a room with queen beds. Everything else was wonderful, especially for the reasonable price. Our room was spotless and had everything we needed, including a mini fridge with freezer, microwave and coffee maker. The window air conditioner worked well. The restaurant was closed during our stay, but they gave us delicious complimentary breakfast sandwiches. The view over the marina and lake was amazing, and we spent lots of time sitting in the chairs outside our room, looking at the water.
