Holiday Inn Express Hamilton-stoney Creek

Our first room hadn’t been cleaned well. One bed was missing a pillow, the nightstand hadn’t been wiped, and I think there was a booger on it. I’m glad they let us switch rooms. The hotel looks dim throughout and seems due for renovation. The elevators didn’t feel stable. Breakfast wasn’t included, and when we considered ordering, the restaurant area was empty with no staff around. We went to Denny’s across the road instead.

We got good value for the price, and the staff were warm and welcoming. It’s kid-friendly and close to shopping, restaurants, and highways. Our spotless room had a comfortable bed, a nice bathroom and shower, plus a TV, microwave, and fridge. There’s also a pool and a clean exercise room. A hockey team was staying at the same time, which made for a fun atmosphere, but it was still quiet and relaxing.

There seemed to be a sports tournament nearby, with kids running around and making noise until about 10:30 p.m. I’d look into what’s happening before booking if I come to Hamilton again. The rates were decent, the staff courteous, and the in-house meal was okay. It wasn’t busy on Friday, and the food was edible. We were worn out from driving and didn’t want to hunt for somewhere else. Finding a menu online was difficult. It’s the sort of mid-range hotel you’d expect.

I’ve stayed here several times for the convenient location, and the restaurant staff have always been attentive. This time I spent four nights and never got maid service, even after telling the front desk. I won’t return after that. The lobby also always smells like AXE body wash.
