Best Western Plus Mirage Hotel & Resort

I stayed for one night in June for work, and it was my birthday. The front desk staff upgraded me to a lovely one-bedroom suite on the second floor and said it was for my birthday. I really appreciated the gesture. The room was a little dated, but comfortable and had everything I needed. I wasn't expecting a fully renovated five-star room, and after a long drive it was a good place to wind down. Room service arrived promptly, and breakfast was included, with a great selection and hot food before the day started. I'd never been to High Level before, but I enjoyed the stay. The hotel was clean, and the front desk and restaurant staff were great. The blackout blinds were perfect for the long summer days. I'm writing this about four months late, but I left happy and had no complaints.

For $260 a night, I got one bed and barely any sleep. The walls are paper thin, and even though I tried to work things out with the hotel, nothing was done. If you want to sleep, I'd stay somewhere else. The Super 8 is great, and its pool is cleaner. People downstairs blasted music until 10 p.m., then shut it off for quiet hours, though getting my child to sleep at 8 had already been a struggle. The room next to us was a party room, with guests drinking, swearing, banging around and hanging out by our door until 6 a.m. Whenever I managed to fall asleep, I'd wake up 20-30 minutes later. I spent the night lying awake and calling the front desk every other hour. They asked the guests to quiet down, but little changed. I got maybe three hours of very broken sleep, despite paying all that money to sleep there. I asked the manager about it the next day. He said he'd speak to the other guests and let me know what they would do, but no one contacted me afterward. The only thing I got was a full receipt slipped under my door.

We've stayed here each year for the Northern Bear Basketball tournament over the last three years, and every visit has been great. The rooms are nice, service is good, and breakfast is outstanding. It's comfortable and worth the drive. Can't wait to come back.

The restaurant servers and food were the only bright spot. I was in town for work, had spent the whole day travelling, and needed rest before more extensive travel the next day. Instead, I got very little sleep and felt at risk travelling while exhausted. From midnight until 4:30 a.m., an unruly guest screamed and swore, banged on doors and stomped around loudly. I called the front desk, but nothing seemed to happen. I felt scared for my safety because the man seemed violent, and I heard other people screaming too. I don't understand why the guest wasn't trespassed. Staff did nothing to accommodate or protect the other guests.
