Days Inn High Prairie

The staff are amazing, honestly. The rooms weren't clean, the beds were extremely hard, and breakfast was almost nonexistent. There was a waffle maker and cereal, but the rest was frozen. Maybe the management changes have put the hotel in a transition period, I'm not sure. But cleanliness and breakfast have gone downhill since six months ago. The staff are still amazing.

Wednesday wing night was great value. I was here for work in a nearby community, and my room was cleaned every day. The breaker tripped once; the front desk lady gave me a general idea of where the panel was, so I reset it myself. I can see why some people have complained about her, she didn't seem to be enjoying life much. Still, I had a good stay.

The breakfast could've been easier to figure out. I didn't find the wrapped omelettes, sausage patties, or boiled eggs in the fridge until my second morning, and the jams were tucked in a cupboard. A clear sign and a big “help yourself” notice would help, since most people won't look through cupboards. Someone staying long term had to tell me where things were. Elizabeth at the front desk was outstanding, and the late night staff helped when I needed something I'd forgotten. Check-in was simple, my room was clean, and hot water was plentiful. After the early working crowd had finished, I just had to wait a few minutes for it to come through the pipes, which seems normal in hotels with long hallways. I was surprised by reviews calling the place shabby. My room, the breakfast room, lobby, and exterior were all clean and in good shape. The rug in the ground floor hallway was worn, but that didn't affect my room or the service. I didn't use the restaurant because it wasn't open when I got back late in the evenings. I'd happily book here again.

The room was loud and really gross. There was dust everywhere, dirty walls, a broken toilet seat, and sheets that felt dirty. It also had no shampoo in the dispenser, and there was mud all over the hallways. They put us in a smoking room with an infant. Staff were friendly, but for $130+ a night, I expect certain basics.
