Athabasca Valley Inn & Suites

The room was clean and comfortable for our one-night stay, and the price was budget friendly. The entrance did smell a little, but the staff at the counter were polite and very friendly. I’d recommend it to friends.

When our vehicle broke down unexpectedly, the staff helped us figure out transportation, shared local advice, and made sure we were comfortable while we sorted things out. They showed real care from check-in onward. The room was clean and comfortable, and we left feeling cared for as people, not just guests. Highly recommend this hotel.

The grocery store next door opened early, which worked well for us, and the staff were lovely and friendly. But the room was very dirty and smelled of stale cigarettes. There were stains on the bedding, and my kids’ feet turned black from the carpet. We booked for me and my two children, and there seemed to be a bar nearby, with drunk people yelling outside. I checked in late and left early, so I didn’t tell the staff about the room, but I wasn’t comfortable.

We were grateful for the warm, clean room and bathroom, especially with evening temperatures down to minus 25 degrees Celsius. The beds had nice linen and a comfortable mattress, and the small kitchenette and fridge came in handy. The restaurant served tasty food at reasonable prices, and there’s a comfortable lounge, plus an on-site bar for music, food, and a livelier crowd. Staff were helpful and friendly. This modest hotel suited us well in the little Albertan town of Hinton. Just steps away, Yukon Sausage butcher shop has tasty beef jerky and candied salmon, well worth a stop.
