Invermere Hostel

The smell was overwhelming, cigarette smoke, sweat, and damp mustiness throughout the building and room. It seemed like the place had never been properly cleaned. We only brought in a change of underwear and a toothbrush because we didn’t want our belongings to pick up the smell. The room looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed or wiped down, and we left without showering because the bathroom looked extremely dirty. My partner didn’t use it at all. I had to sleep facing the open window because the bed smelled so musty, though being on the ground floor made leaving it open feel sketchy. The other guests didn’t seem like the best crowd. We booked last minute, but sleeping in the car would’ve been better. I felt especially uneasy as a woman on my own, though luckily my partner was with me. It was a bad experience with sketchy vibes.

I just wanted to get out of there. The noise went on all night and it was impossible to sleep. The whole hostel smelled unpleasant, and the building was old. It was terrible, I’ve never stayed in one like it. Not worth the money 😒😒😒🥺😤

It was too noisy at night, and even though I understand it’s an old hostel, it’s still supposed to be clean. One of the worst hostels I’ve ever visited. I don’t want to stay here again.

The clean sheets, private room, and warm showers were positives, and if you go in with the right expectations it’s an alright place. Still, I probably wouldn’t come back. I expected a backpacker hostel, but it’s more like affordable short-term rental housing with shared showers and a kitchen. The place felt dark and a bit dank, the water tasted funny, and the kitchen wasn’t great even by hostel standards. I was there midweek when only one or two other people were around, and honestly found it a bit depressing. The other guests were about what you’d expect given those conditions.
