Hotel La Roche Pleureuse

The ride by bike to the island's southern tip was lovely, especially on an e-bike. The room itself was clean and the beds were comfortable, but there was no working AC and no airflow from the window, even though it was cool outside. I'd choose a room on the west side. Avoid room 33 in the main building, it gets no air at all. Also, there's no food after 9pm, so plan ahead for weekday meals around the island.

The boat ride by the St. Lawrence River was especially relaxing, with a gentle breeze and water splashing around. A friend recommended this place, and I liked the comfortable surroundings and the room's decor. It felt huge when I first arrived. The food was good, and the staff were polite and professional, though there seemed to be too few of them. I hope they can add more staff. Still, I had a good experience.

We planned to stay for two nights but left after the first because there was no water, so we couldn't use the toilet or shower. The dining room was closed, despite being represented as available, and when we asked for a refund, they refused.

We left after just one night. At $275 a night, this felt like a scam, especially when the place is so bare bones. The old beds were dated, there was only a fan and no AC, and the key barely worked. The bathroom was below basic: the shower curtain barely covered the tub edge, so the floor got soaked after one shower. The room reminded me of an old college room. It has potential, but clearly lacks care and enough staff. We had to climb 120 steps to get ice. The water in the rooms isn't drinkable, yet they don't provide a free bottle. Honestly, I could go on forever. It felt like a $60 roadside motel somewhere in North Carolina on the drive to Florida.
