Prestige Aberdeen Lodge Kamloops

The room was large and very clean, with a cold mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and great water pressure. There was plenty of parking and a good continental breakfast, and a nice breeze came into the room. Staff I met in the hallways were courteous, and the hotel was quiet enough for a very good sleep. The front desk team were welcoming and knew their stuff. They even got me to sign up for prestige rewards. The beds were comfortable, though the pillows were too large for me and hurt my neck. Maybe two of the four could be thinner so guests have a choice.

The rooms were in terrible shape: torn curtains with moth holes in the blackout curtains, stains on the floors, furniture and phone, a kitchenette missing cabinet doors, an old bathroom door that hadn’t been painted, and sinks and tubs that clogged. Desk employees seemed like they didn’t want to be there, and treated requests as a huge inconvenience. We stayed one night at the start of our trip and another at the end. The vending machine had no water, and when we asked the desk, they sent us to the gas station. At over $300 a night, you’d expect water for guests. Breakfast was barely a continental breakfast too, just coffee, yogurt, one cereal and oranges. For that price there should be more. There are plenty of other hotels in Kamloops, so I wouldn’t recommend this one for any length of stay.

I paid a lot for two days in room 345 on floor 3, plus a $100 deposit, and the room wasn’t clean. It wasn’t even busy. I expected the stay to be worth the money. Please do better.

The soundproofing was good. I barely heard neighbors or their TVs, and even the construction behind my room wasn’t obnoxious. The room cleaning was frequent and well done, and most staff were friendly. One man seemed not to believe I was a guest when I came in at 10 pm, and made me verify all my details. The hotel is a bit run down; my room was okay, but had a broken table and rattling AC. The so-called “Premium wifi” was painfully slow and kept disconnecting, so FaceTiming family on cellular worked better. The laundry machines suck.
