Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, Autograph Collection

The breakfast buffet was nice and the mountain views were good, but for me they didn't make up for the price or the mediocre room. We paid over $700 a night for two nights in the black diamond club, an upgrade from the base rooms, and it still didn't feel premium. I've stayed in nicer hotels for less. The fitted sheet wouldn't stay on the bed, and the closet doors looked like heavy metal exterior fire escape doors because of their construction and handles. There were two bathroom mirrors with just one sink between them. Our forest view also included a large dumpster behind the building. The resort and hotel are very nice overall, but the room didn't meet expectations for what it cost.

We took the kids and some friends to Cannon Mountain Lodge for the weekend and had a wonderful time. The outdoor pool was a big hit with both the adults and children. The cozy courtyard, mountain scenery and surrounding nature gave the hotel a special feel. Everything was at a great level, and we loved the stay. It's a beautiful place, and we'll definitely come back. 💛

The hotel is nice, but for the money it wasn't exceptional. Our room faced a dumpster, and the interior had nothing special about it. There was no free water for a Gold member, either. At reception, the staff member didn't smile, didn't seem aware I was a Marriott Gold member, and gave no general introduction to the hotel. The bellboy also seemed unfriendly, as if we'd offended him. I visited in November, when it seemed to be off season with fewer people. Even though many nice rooms on the second floor were empty, there was no upgrade, though I know one isn't guaranteed. There were fewer guest activities than on other days. I think things like yoga should be offered every day.

The condition of the room and the safety and accessibility issues made this stay far below what we expected. We spent more time dealing with problems than enjoying the vacation. The sheets had an orange colored stain, and garbage and leftover food had been left in the room. One of the children even stepped on a rotten banana near the window. We asked for the room to be cleaned while we went to the pool. A member of our family with a disability couldn't access the pool area, so she couldn't fully enjoy the facilities, including the hot tub. There was also a sharp wooden board from ongoing renovations that someone could easily get hurt on. When we came back, the sheets had been changed, but the garbage and food were still there. We were moved to another room, and that one was unclean too. For the amount we spent, this was utter madness.
