Sommet des Neiges

We’ve stayed here over the last few years, at least twice annually, and always feel comfortable. It’s especially convenient and affordable for family trips with children, since the rooms and suites have kitchens and laundry facilities. The rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable, with lovely views from the balconies. Staff are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The outdoor pool and sauna add to the experience. Definitely recommend it.

Nathalie, the hotel owner, helped make this an excellent stay. The suites are unusually spacious and come with a full kitchen, living room, bathroom, washer and dryer, and balcony. You’re at the base of the village, within walking distance of everything. The pool is lovely in summer, and the luxurious jacuzzis are great for unwinding in the evening. This is the only hotel in the village with suites this large, and all rooms include a kitchen. There are plenty of amenities and great views too. I’d recommend staying here, and I’m looking forward to coming back.

The rooms are so poorly soundproofed that you can hear neighbors, people in the hallways, and even footsteps and conversations on other floors. It’s an old, worn building that doesn’t seem to have been renovated. Sleeping was so difficult that earplugs or a white noise machine felt essential. We cut our stay short for that reason. There were other problems with the service. Our keycards wouldn’t work, and reception reactivated them four times. Each time I walked to the room on the third floor to try them, then back to the desk because they still didn’t work. Even on my third return, staff didn’t apologize or offer to come up and make sure we could get in. I wasn’t the only guest having the keycard issue, which made it seem like the hotel wasn’t addressing it. Because of the noise, I requested a date change through Booking and asked reception whether it had gone through. Two employees assured me it was approved, said we should check out the next morning, and said the final day would be refunded at checkout. The next day, two different employees knew nothing about the approved request and said the removed day couldn’t be refunded. We arrived with our suitcases ready to leave based on what we’d been told. When I objected, they shrugged and said, “Oh well. I don’t know who worked yesterday.” Then, when I said that wasn’t acceptable, they told me to leave right away because I was “rude to them.” They didn’t try to resolve the contradiction or take responsibility. The hotel is charging a lot for an old, tired property close to the ski lift. If you’re willing to walk five minutes, I think there are better and cheaper options. I also suspect some of the positive reviews were bought. The gym and hot pools looked worn and quite dirty, and I wouldn’t use the pools for fear of getting an infection. This is the worst work ethic I’ve seen in a hotel. I can’t understand why the staff, who seemed to be in their 40s, handled their jobs so badly, or why it’s acceptable to give a guest false information and then refuse to fix the mistake. They acted entitled, played with their phones at work, and brushed off a serious error instead of showing basic respect by doing a good job. Random 20-year-old students from a high school playing field could do better. This place is nowhere near a four-star hotel. I’d rate it 1/10, but if I could give it zero or -99, that would be justified.

The location is excellent, but we’ve had no internet reception at all for the last four days. When the manager came to our room to check, we were told to use the business center instead. Update: the hotel replied to my comment, but we still have no wifi or internet reception.
