Travelodge Kapuskasing

We’ve stayed at this property many, many times and had seen the fairly recent renovations, so the condition on this visit really surprised us. The doors, walls, and panelling were scratched, the hall carpet looked over 10 years old, the room had no freestanding lamps, and the bathroom towel rack had been ripped off the wall. Reception said, “It’s no excuse, but we’ve had fire evacuees stay here for 3 weeks.” I can’t understand how people given shelter at no cost could be so disrespectful and cause so much damage. I know evacuees are in distress, but I still think people should show respect. I can’t imagine what their homes look like if they can cause that much damage in so little time. It wasn’t our best stay here, but we’ll return. I’d urge other travellers not to give up on this property and to be patient while they try to dig themselves out of this mess. Hopefully the property refuses to take any more of this type of clientele.

After driving 16 hours, all I needed was a place to sleep. This place was rough, sketchy, and dirty. I wasn’t expecting the Hilton for what I paid, but the walls were filthy, the bathroom was nasty, and the stale smoke smell in my room was strong. The vibe was awful. I slept in my clothes on top of the bed, didn’t shower, and skipped breakfast. Glad I brought my own pillow. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Stay away, sleep in your vehicle.

It was okay, but the floors could use a proper vacuum and there was hair and other stuff on them. The bedsheets and towels were clean. My stay wasn’t nearly as bad as some of the other recent reviews.

The room was awful. There was no air conditioning, just a fan on the dresser. Its window was below ground and faced a stone wall. The staff weren’t helpful and said they couldn’t or wouldn’t change rooms because I’d booked online. I contacted Expedia about it, and they confirmed with the hotel that the room had no A/C or functional window. Expedia arranged for us to move to the Comfort Inn.
