Howard Johnson - Kitchener Conestoga

The one thing I appreciated was that they changed my sheets when I asked. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend this place. My sheets were dirty at first, there was cigarette stench in the air, and the location felt far from everything. It seemed more like a motel. The so-called balcony was a sketchy wooden walkway to the parking lot, and its door lock was broken, held shut with a metal bar. Loud guests right beside me woke me up, and the towel bar was partly broken and sat crooked under the weight of my towels. They also put a $100 hold on my credit card that still hasn’t been released. Getting to my room from the front entrance took a long, winding route, with two left turns, stairs, and another left.

The pool was the only good part. There were many drugged-out people hanging around outside, and the location was awful. Inside, the hotel was very dated and badly in need of renovation. The room and bathroom were old and dirty, and the sheets and bedding had holes. Breakfast was terrible, just bagels, cereal, and donuts, all the kind of food you can buy at No Frills for 99 cents.

The location worked well for Chicopee tube park, the pool was great, and the staff were friendly. But the hotel and rooms are really dated and need renovations. Our fridge was broken, there was mold in the bathroom, and the carpets were old. Breakfast ran out of food and wasn't enough, and the hot tub had been out of order for a while. It felt overpriced. At least there were no bed bugs, but we wouldn't stay again.

The room was spacious, and the pool was about the only nice thing. The beds were uncomfortable, the bathroom was pretty gross, and the free breakfast was sad. The hot tub wasn't running for “health and safety” reasons. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to anyone.
