Hôtel Must – Aéroport de Québec par JARO

We had a clean, comfortable room and a good breakfast with a decent range of choices. Indoor basement parking was a real plus. The pool smelled strongly of chlorine, which was overwhelming, and a train passing nearby woke us around 5 a.m. It was a good stay overall, and I’d consider coming back.

The room was as described, clean and decent, but the key cards failed every day. Staff said they’d been demagnetized, so we had to visit reception each day to have them reactivated. Only on day three did we learn the actual problem: they hadn’t set the cards to work for the full length of our stay. Breakfast was the biggest letdown. Calling it a “continental breakfast” is misleading: there was very little choice, almost no variety, and food was often cold, including eggs and pancakes. That’s especially frustrating on a stay of more than a couple of days. It wasn’t a buffet and wasn’t worth what we paid. The hotel was poor value for money. Better basic management and a real breakfast service could improve it, but I wouldn’t recommend it as things stand.

I expected better quality. It wasn’t a terrible place, but I wasn’t impressed. The shower design sent water all over the bathroom floor, and the wood shelf under the sink had a lot of water damage, with few places to hang towels or bathing suits. Both beds, the Murphy bed and the regular one, were far too rigid and uncomfortable.

The continental breakfast was good, with more than just bread, jam, and coffee. The hotel suited us well, about 25 minutes from Val Cartier and 20 from Quebec city. Parking was the one problem: the attached restaurant and arcade often filled the lot, so I had to park in a different lot and walk over.
