Hampton Inn & Suites Quebec City/ Saint-Romuald

The rooms were comfortable enough for sleeping, clean, tidy, and well maintained, and housekeeping did a good job. The staff at check-in and check-out were excellent, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was a letdown. The food was often cold, refills were slow despite the number of guests, and the lobby area had too few seats. At busy times it felt overcrowded and stressful just trying to find somewhere to sit. The hotel is quite far from downtown. Arriving late made it hard to find food: nearby restaurants weren’t open, Uber Eats wasn’t available after midnight, and late-night transportation options were limited. We paid $257 per night for four nights. For that price, the location and overall experience didn’t meet our expectations.

The only good thing about breakfast was that it was complimentary. I paid over $200 after tax, and there wasn’t even a microwave in the standard room. A motel costing less than $150 a night would have one. This is a “Hampton Inn”? This was my second stay, but it’ll be the last. I’m writing at 1 am after being woken by noisy guests on my floor. My room had a connecting door to theirs, and their kids were running around making a racket at midnight. There’s no soundproofing at all. Never again.

The breakfast setup couldn’t keep up with the number of guests. Most items had run out, and the lines were long, so management needs to redesign the area to accommodate everyone. In the room, there should also be more hooks for jackets and hats near the entrance. The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly. Parking was confusing too, so make sure your ticket is validated or you’ll pay full price.

The staff were nice and friendly, and the other things were fine for staying while traveling around Quebec. But when I checked in late on the first day, I didn’t ask them to change the bed cover and blanket. There was a lot of hair from the previous customer under the blanket. I asked for both to be changed the next day. It’s better to wait until they’ve changed them before you go out, so you can be sure it’s done the way you want. The bed was too soft and made my back uncomfortable.
