Border Inn and Suites Lloydminster

The beds in room 216 were comfortable, and it was quiet at the far end of the motel. Breakfast was delicious, with eggs, sausage, hash browns and more, and the host was so sweet. We enjoyed chatting with her. The rate was great and the room was wonderful, but our pet-friendly room could've been cleaner. The carpet needed more attention, since most pet-friendly rooms we've stayed in have laminate, and the white shower curtain needed washing. The hotel was hosting an Islamic holiday, and it was incredibly loud, making check-in communication difficult. The night desk person seemed distracted and put us in occupied room 219. It was mortifying to walk in on a couple in bed, but they got us sorted out quickly. I'd recommend it!

I've stayed here a few times, and the rooms have always been well kept. The on-site restaurant and bar are really nice, and the rooms are so well insulated that I don't think I've ever heard another guest. The odd thing that keeps the rooms from getting five stars is the sink being in the main room instead of the bathroom. Such a weird choice.

The staff were helpful and quick, and the hotel was clean and quiet. I stayed one night, and the location was exactly where I needed to be. It was comfortable, with great water pressure. Singing karaoke in the hotel bar was a fun surprise, and I was impressed by the included breakfast, with actual bacon and eggs and more.

Management was the one bright spot. They were kind and helpful sorting out a big misunderstanding over the booking price, which came from poor communication. I feel bad that it became such a big issue, and their help is why I gave service 3 stars instead of 1. There were no baseboards, they were literally ripped off the walls, and the door frame paint job was awful. I hope they were renovating. The front desk lady was an absolute grouch, acted like her job was a chore, and gave one of our guests a hard time, as if we were her problem. The vending machine listed snacks at 2.75 but charged 6.75 twice, which I believe may be illegal. On our second night, a drugged-up gang member wandered the halls. One room had a clogged shower drain, and nobody came to fix it after we asked for maintenance. I know the hotel was hosting a big event, but if we come back for it next year, we'll likely stay elsewhere.
