We’d already booked another stay for next year because we loved it here. Eddie and Christine were welcoming, kind, and helpful throughout. The location and resort were amazing, and staying at Marigold Resort was a great experience. My grandparents used to own a cabin at loon lake, which they sold about 10 years ago. My family and I recently came back to visit the cabin and stayed at the resort. The RV could use some updates, but it’s old, and I wasn’t expecting it to be perfect.

The boat rentals were affordable and so much fun, probably the best part of our five days at Marigold Fishing Resort in Cache Creek, BC. We loved the gorgeous lake and its breathtaking views, and the general store came in handy for last-minute things. The owners were lovely and went out of their way to make us comfortable, always ready to help. Beds were comfortable, prices very reasonable, and renting a BBQ for just $5 a day saved us from bringing our own. We’re hoping to return next year, as my aunt and uncle do every year. The cabins felt smaller than they looked in the photos, though still homey and cozy. Bring pillows and blankets, since sheets are provided but those aren’t. There were quite a few wasps, and leeches near the shore, so be careful swimming close to the edge. Heading out to the middle of the lake was fantastic. Hot water ran out quickly, which meant cold showers, and parking wasn’t ideal, though there’s more space on the hill behind the resort. There was also a water boil advisory during our stay, despite the website saying the water was drinkable. Even with those minor hassles, we had a wonderful time and recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

We were moved to RV8 after learning RV 9 was no longer waterfront, though it still appeared as a water view/front option on the website and the map. The owner said the map had been removed in the spring. We’d booked on March 6th 2025, and were grateful RV8 was available when we arrived early for check-in. On the coming rain, we said an awning would be useful. The owner mentioned a leaking roof vent needed fixing, and we said to take time for that and for cleaning and preparing the RV. The vent was just covered with duct tape. We also booked a pontoon for a full day, split into two half days. We asked for the newer boat. One owner quoted $180 in the store, while the other jokingly said $200, but we were charged $220.00. Since rain kept us off the lake most of Saturday morning, we asked if we could take our boys, aged 5&8, out for about 45 minutes if it cleared. They graciously let us. On Sunday, after we’d left, we emailed because reception only opens at 9. There’d been no heat on Saturday night, when it was 3 degrees, and the leaking roof had left the floor wet and made things worse. The reply was that we’d had no issue Friday, so the heat must have been working, and that if we’d said something they could have offered an electric heater. We didn’t need or use heat Friday. We went to the store around 7PM, but it was closed from 6PM, and nobody answered when we knocked. The propane smell from the nonworking furnace was a risk to everyone. We had to get everyone out and open the windows to air the RV. While packing, we found clothes, socks, and shorts left by previous renters. When we mentioned it, the first response was that they’d rushed the cleaning. After going back and forth with the owners, we were offered a $50.00 discount. Then that was taken back after they sent photos of a cast iron pan we’d left uncleaned on the BBQ and a pot we’d left soaking in soap to make it easier to clean. We’d removed all the garbage, swept, left the RV clean, and put a bucket under the leak so it wouldn’t cause more damage. I was surprised they held the pot and pan against us. I’ve never had to clean everything for the next guest at a resort, hotel, or Air BNB. It felt like they tried to justify every issue we raised instead of taking responsibility. So, thanks for the $50.00 discount after we were overcharged $40 on the pontoon. One last thing, please don’t let people shoot hunting bow and arrows at a block just below the cabins, where people walk and kids play. It’s dangerous, and an arrow could recoil anywhere if it hits another object.

The docks sit really high above the water, but this is a camping experience with some excellent perks. The owner met us quickly when we arrived and showed us where to park by our cabin. Since then, the owners have been nothing but helpful, and the store is great. The husband gave me advice on catching fish because I really want my daughter to experience catching her first one. Don’t let the negative reviews or comments put you off. Do yourself a favour and come see for yourself. I’m glad I did with my family.
