Auberge jeunesse Magog-Orford

The location made getting around easy, with restaurants and major attractions nearby, and the room and housekeeping were clean. But staying in the room was uncomfortable. The windows wouldn't stay open, so it got sauna hot on warmer days, and the beds squeaked with every move, especially disruptive at night. There weren't paper towels or tissues in either the kitchen or the room, either. With better room upkeep and those basic supplies, the stay could be much more comfortable. As it was, the convenient location and cleanliness were weighed down by those problems.

The staff were really friendly, and the rooms were clean and looked after. Everyone staying there was quiet and respectful of each other's space. It's very close to the main Street in Magog. The only problem I noticed was that the bathroom window had no curtain or blinds.

We spent time relaxing at the auberge's coffee shop, and it also made a handy base for biking the routes around the townships, water sports, or camping near the national parks. The lake beach, grassy park, wetland trails, supermarket, pharmacy, and principal street were all within walking distance. The rooms were cozy and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a big kitchen and dining area, a terrace with picnic tables, plus neatly arranged bathrooms and a living room. A great setup for a good stay in any season.

Magog worked well as our base for skiing, and the location made it easy to walk to shops and restaurants. There’s a craft beer store down the street, and the drives to Orford, Mont Sutton, and Owl's Head took about 15, 55, and 30 minutes. The room was very clean, as were the two bathrooms on our floor. Breakfast included coffee, juice, cereal, and toast, and the bright communal area had what we needed to cook. The staff were pleasant. I stayed with my husband and our 14 year old child, and we'd stay here again.
