Comme Chez Soi Restaurant & Auberge

This was our third family dinner here, and the quiet atmosphere works especially well for our elderly mother. The service is excellent, and bringing our own wine helps keep the meal affordable. A couple of things could be better: they charge extra for small changes, like swapping potatoes for fries, and the vegetables are served nearly raw and need more cooking. Aside from that, everything was okay.

We came from Ontario for a date night. The restaurant was easy to find, lovely inside, and our server was very kind. The lobster bisque was excellent, the appetizers were solid, and the chocolate dessert was very good. Bringing your own wine is a nice touch. Unfortunately, the mains we chose were terrible. My wife’s salmon was extremely dry and had too much sauce, so she ate about 10% of it. The duck confit was even worse, and I couldn’t eat any of it. We wanted a five-star experience, but it didn’t come through. I’m sorry, but that’s how it was. Four stars for the good parts.

The food was delicious, and the quality, presentation, and temperature were all spot on. Great service, too. It’s a real treasure, very affordable for the money, and BYOB is a bonus. I’d recommend it 100%. It won’t disappoint!

Both meals were excellent. We were seated next to the “fireplace,” which looks nice, though I wish it actually gave off some heat.
