I needed somewhere to stay for a week while finishing a work contract, and for the price and location this was a solid choice. Staff were friendly, rooms clean, the AC and heat worked, and there's a pool and fitness center. The continental breakfast was mostly carbs with few choices. You can pay extra for a premium option, which includes protein and makes for a more balanced meal. All in all, a nice place to stay.

Having a quiet, comfortable place to stay made a difficult few days easier while I was near a family member at Sunnybrook Hospital. The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable, and it's been quiet each time I've stayed. Getting to the hospital for an early appointment or back to the hotel after 8 p.m. took only 20 minutes. During the day it can take up to an hour, though there are several routes and it was easy to adjust as needed. Restaurants and a grocery store nearby stay open late. The mini-fridge and microwave are useful, and you may want to bring a bowl and cutlery.

My plans changed just ten minutes after I booked, so I had to leave. The hotel policy wasn't in my favor, but Mr. Eddie, the Duty Manager at Monte Carlo Inn & Suites – Downtown Markham, showed real understanding and fairness. He wouldn't charge me the full amount and handled everything with kindness and compassion. That level of care stood out, and I wanted to recognize his professionalism and humanity. Thank you again, Mr. Eddie. I really appreciate your kindness and integrity.

The biggest disappointment was breakfast. The included hot option was only oatmeal, with toast, bagels, small pastries, and limited fruit alongside it. For an extra $8, there was a small, one-serving egg and meat option that looked so unappealing when we saw it that we decided to eat out. We'll look for somewhere else next time so we can have breakfast with our stay. Booking.com also left out the deficiencies we reported in its follow-up review, which could mislead consumers, though that may not be the hotel's fault. Otherwise, it was decent value. The room was compact but clean and well appointed, with comfortable bedding, updated undamaged furniture, good heat, little noise, a working Wi-Fi connection, a small fridge, a safe, and enough toiletries for a short visit. The location suited us, near many Chinese malls and restaurants. There was plenty of parking, but snow from the previous night hadn't been cleared well, so winter boots were needed to get to the entrances. Summer visitors should know the wall-mounted A/C units may be noisy. The breakfast isn't what we need, so we'd only consider returning if other options were scarce.
