Hôtel Motel Belle Plage

The owner was very kind, and we had a great view and a nice bed. Our two-bedroom cabin was more space than we needed, but it was the only one available and cost about the same as other places we'd stayed. I use a CPAP and had to move a small table from the living room beside the bed, so a few more small tables would help. The living room chair was comfortable, though the couch wasn't.

We hardly spent time in the room, since we were out enjoying Matane and the beach, but it was spacious enough for our family of five. We went searching for beach glass every morning and evening and found lots. The sunset was beautiful, and we loved seeing people gathered around their own fires. We were lucky to find this place, it worked perfectly for our family.

We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, and it was so, so good. You need to reserve. My salmon was the best I've ever had, and the waitresses were really lovely. The river view was nice too. The room had an old smell that set off my allergies in my lungs and nose, but after taking Claritin I was able to enjoy the stay. All the staff were super helpful and friendly.

The on-site restaurant looked a little fancy, but a Big Mac from McDonalds did the trick for me! There are lots of swings facing the water, great for morning coffee, and you can look for driftwood right on the beach out front. We also got stunning sunsets over the St. Lawrence. The waterfront setting was peaceful, our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. Parking was plentiful and it was good value. We loved stopping here on our road trip through Matane.
