Super 8 by Wyndham Meadow Lake

We spent three nights at Super 8. The pool was shut for maintenance, with no notice from the business and no compensation. Breakfast was a very small selection, just toast and cereal. The rooms felt dated, and the carpet was sticky, maybe because it had just been cleaned. The room itself was clean, though, and we didn’t use housekeeping. The bathroom was old, the tub stained, and the toilet broke during our stay. The AC worked well and the beds were comfortable. There aren’t many options in Meadow Lake.

We were two women stranded and needed somewhere to get through the night. A huge thank you to assistant manager Dan for helping us so much. Creator Blessing.

I’m lowering my rating from three stars to two because the pool shouldn’t be listed as an amenity. Reviews going back two years suggest it’s been “closed for maintenance” the whole time. The windows looking into the pool area are covered, and seem to have been for a while. Staff act as though it might open eventually, but this hotel doesn’t have a pool. The rest was about what I expected from a two star hotel: some older features alongside a few updates. My bathroom seemed recently renovated, and the room was quite clean.

The location was great for our softball trip, but that was the only good part. We booked a large block of rooms after confirming the pool would be open. We only found out at checkout that it had been closed for months. Through the back windows you can see mattresses and cleaning supplies in the pool room. It doesn’t look like the pool will ever be operating again, yet they’re still advertising it. Breakfast was a few slices of bread, a dirty toaster, and warm yogurt.
