The biggest problem was the parking right in front of the units, and it’s why we wouldn’t return. Several workers backed diesel trucks into those spots, idled them early in the morning, and left. Exhaust quickly filled our unit, so we had to get up at 5:30 a.m. and leave the room. Management should let guests know and consider signs asking drivers not to back in or idle there, especially since there seems to be lots of parking away from the rooms. The property was quiet and reasonably priced, with nice staff and updated rooms. It was generally clean, but corners, the shower curtain, and light switches could use a deeper clean. The bedding was thin, and one sheet had a hole. Both units we rented had induction hot plates that wouldn’t work until we turned on the breaker, so instructions would help. The kitchen chairs and sitting chair were badly stained. Replacing them with non-fabric seats would improve cleanliness and appearance.

Mr Dhillion is very personable, and we chatted for about half an hour when I arrived. He bought Riverside Motel six years ago and completely renovated it. The suites are spacious, clean, and ready when you open the door. There was a welcome note, bottled water in the fridge, and caramels on the counter. They have a fridge, stove, microwave, and hot plate, plus full-size toiletries instead of tiny single-use bottles. At under $100 for a suite in Medicine Hat, I highly recommend staying here.

The location worked really well for me, close to the main highway and right by a very good restaurant called Happy’s. The rates are affordable compared with other places in town, especially given the room quality. The room was fully renovated with a modern look, and the kitchenette had everything I needed. The gentleman running the place was very accommodating. I’ll stay here next time I visit Medicine Hat and highly recommend it for short or long stays.

I stayed here for a little over two months for work. The updated rooms have smart TVs, a full fridge, and some cutlery. There’s a restaurant and pizza place right beside the motel, and the owner is installing a laundry room for tenants, which will be great. It’s clear he takes pride in the property. I’d definitely stay here again.

The staff were kind and accommodating, and my room was clean, comfortable, and newly renovated. I had an excellent stay and will definitely be back.
