Ali and his staff were kind, welcoming, and did their best to make sure I had somewhere to stay in Montreal after I booked Hotel Ambrose at the last minute. My room was clean and comfortable, with an old-fashioned charm, and the rate was very affordable. The hotel is just off Sherbrooke Street, which made getting downtown convenient. There's also a lovely cafe in the lobby. I'd definitely recommend Hotel Ambrose for a Montreal visit.

The hotel has an Alice in Wonderland sort of feel. It's essentially two townhouses joined together, and renovations are still underway. The location is unbeatable, which is why I picked it. It's a short walk to the university and, more importantly, Mount Royal / Mont Real Park. I enjoyed walking there and over to Beaver Lake, which the kind, warm, and helpful man at reception recommended. He really made the visit.

I had a lovely stay at the Ambrose Hotel. It was really clean and the rooms were nice. When bad weather meant I unexpectedly had to extend my stay by two days, the staff were wonderful and helped accommodate me.

Mr. Ali, the new owner, was very cordial and helpful throughout our stay. Café ambrose is on a beautiful street, not too far from some great places and restaurants. We had a great stay.

Parking was the main headache. There are only four spots for hotel guests, and they cost extra. We were lucky to call ahead and reserve one, but I was honestly nervous about moving the car during our stay in case we lost it. The building is very old, and on our last day the bathroom water stopped working. The location is perfect for downtown Montreal, with the Bell Centre, shops, and plenty of sights within walking distance. If you need a cheap night downtown, it could be a good option. If you're looking for amenities, service, and the full hotel experience, this isn't it.
