Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel

For around $250 a night, I expected more. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, housekeeping cleaned the room daily, the shower had nice sliding doors and a handheld head, and the staff were friendly in the limited interactions I had. The location was handy for shopping and attractions. Still, I wouldn't stay again. The room and bathroom both had cleanliness issues, and the room was tiny, with the bed right by the entrance and hardly any space for coats or shoes. The bathroom was cramped too, and its door opened inward, so it had to be shut to use the toilet or shower. The TV was locked to the hotel's streaming box, and getting to HDMI meant reaching behind it. Temperature control was a headache. There was no fan-only setting, the heat and AC came on unpredictably, and motion sensors often left the room cold when I came back after being out. Hot water was basically missing. I had to run the sink just to get lukewarm water, and it never stayed hot. I ordered food from UberEats and wasn't given cutlery. When I called guest services, ready to pick it up at the desk, they said bamboo cutlery would cost $4 to deliver. Bring essentials in case you need them. The elevators caused chaos, especially during the conference. There were six for 35 floors, waits ran 5-8 minutes, and some went by without stopping. When they filled up, people were rushing to tap room keys and choose floors before the doors shut. I got trapped twice because the elevator moved too quickly before I could select a floor.

The pool, hot tub, and sauna were especially nice to have in winter, and the hotel itself was good, with a central location and pleasant rooms. I stayed for two nights over the holidays, though a couple of service issues spoiled some of it. The elevators advertised a 5-7 p.m. happy hour at the lobby restaurant. When I went down, the hostess said there wasn't really a happy hour, they just wanted guests to come in then. That felt like false advertising and wasted my time. Before checkout I called room service to ask for a few water bottles for our drive home. They never arrived, and after we checked out, the front desk wouldn't give us any because they only delivered them to rooms. It's a good hotel, but the customer service and attention to detail need work.

The staff made our three-night stay feel so welcoming. Every person I met was kind, polite, and helpful, and Mr.Kim Hyunjun went out of his way to help us and make sure things were right. I stay at Marriott hotels a lot, and the service here really stood out. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are lovely, and the location is central downtown. The club lounge was amazing too, if you have access. I'd recommend it for a future visit to Montreal.

Our room was clean, comfortable, and well kept, with beautiful views, though it was smaller than other rooms we've seen. The bathroom was compact enough that getting ready at the same time was a bit tricky. The hot tub was out of service for our whole stay, which was disappointing since we booked after being told it would be available. We stayed on the club level and loved the lounge overlooking downtown Montreal. The sunset view was memorable, and breakfast had lots of choices. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, soda, and sparkling water were available throughout the day, with appetizers in the evening. Peter gave us great suggestions for things to see and do, and every one we tried led to a wonderful experience. He was so dedicated and passionate about the city that talking with him felt like chatting with a friend. We missed saying goodbye because it was his day off. Patrick was cheerful, welcoming, and attentive every time we saw him. The train station is just a few minutes away, many attractions are walkable, and the metro is nearby if you want to go farther. There's also a Starbucks attached to the hotel. The staff, views, and location made it a wonderful stay. We'd recommend it and come back, hopefully this summer.
