Super 8 Morden

We had a very disappointing two-night stay. The room was dirty, with hair in the bathroom and crumbs on the sofa bed. We paid for the extra bed but couldn’t use it because it wasn’t clean. Nobody cleaned the room during our stay. Staff were rude and unhelpful, and we saw them smoking inside the hotel. Breakfast was included, but what was put out was old and stale, so I’d get breakfast elsewhere. The heat was off throughout the hotel except at the front desk, and it took almost eight hours for our room to warm up. When my daughter asked about it, the front desk worker was rude. He came up and said it would work soon. She asked for another blanket because it was so cold, and he went to get one, then opened the door and threw it in. I would not recommend staying here.

There was perfume throughout the place, from the entrance and dining area to the halls, where it was being sprayed regularly. It wouldn’t suit someone sensitive to scents, and it didn’t feel like other Wyndham properties. Both rooms we booked had broken fridges, and the air conditioner was broken or turned off. The beds were incredibly outdated, the pool was closed for health and safety reasons, and several rooms were left ajar.

The management contacted me and offered a refund for one of the six nights. I appreciated the gesture and the effort to make things right, though I’m not convinced it addresses the bigger problems. I’m still quite disappointed. Staff entered our room while the do not disturb sign was on. They took a bag from the back of the door even though we’d left our garbage outside and the sign said we didn’t want service. If they were going to come in without permission, they could at least have cleaned, but they didn’t vacuum, wipe the bathroom, or clean the toilet. We never had enough towels for a family of four, and when we asked for more, they refused. One evening, someone in our group found their door propped open. And the pool never opened.

For a large family like mine, this hotel is a great find. We came back for a second stay, and the owner kindly let us use the pool until 11pm, which was a real bonus. The rooms were comfortable and made for a good night’s sleep, and its ideal location made it easy to visit different towns.
