Best Western Dorchester

We had a disastrous stay with our family. The room we moved to had working AC and a door stop that blocked the gap underneath, but the bathroom was dirty, with visible dirt and hair left by previous guests. Paint was peeling in several places. We couldn't agree on compensation with the general manager. The most they offered was a Best Western gift card for one night's stay. In our original family suite, there was a 1.5-inch gap under the door, so we stuffed bath towels there for privacy. It also wasn't accessible for a family with a stroller: there were stairs after the elevator, and we had to carry the stroller. The AC didn't work. We told the hotel and asked for fresh towels, but nothing arrived until we asked several times. Our children couldn't have baths. When we followed up about the AC the next day, we were told no one could fix it until day three of our four-night stay. We asked to switch rooms and were told one would be ready whenever we got back. Our kids needed naps, so we drove back for it, only to be told it wouldn't be ready until evening. We had to push the front desk agent to make it a priority. Moving took over an hour because, once again, there were stairs before the elevator and even more stairs after it to the new family room. Poor communication from staff cost us almost a whole day. Parking was another problem. At night, we were sent to an overflow lot, and the front desk agent wasn't even sure we had the right spot. I also waited over 45 minutes to talk to them because no staff were available. Don't stay here with children, if you need guaranteed parking, or if you value your time and expect prompt service from staff. Save your money and go down the road.

Checkout was so frustrating that it overshadowed the rest of my stay, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I had a lot of luggage and asked if someone could bring a cart to my room so I wouldn't have to make several trips. I was told to wait, then told no one was available. But when I went to the lobby myself, several people were at reception, including a staff member who was just standing there. I had to go up and down three times. I was so stressed and rushed that I left my charger plugged into the socket. The body wash dispenser in my room was empty, too. I asked housekeeping about it, but they never checked or refilled it. The lack of help and follow-through on basic requests was disappointing. Future guests might have a better stay at the Coast hotel right behind this property.

The room was clean and welcoming, and I was assured I'd get help with the wake-up call and luggage. At check-in, the front desk staff member (name?) and the manager, Saurya, were very helpful in clearing up a misunderstanding about the hotel's policies. Five stars for service. I'd stay again. Thank you!

The restaurant on site served good food and gave excellent service, and the staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming. My room, #106, was clean and satisfactory for my one-night stay. I got outstanding service overall. The bright lights outside made it hard to sleep, though, because the room didn't have thick, dark curtains.
