We booked this hotel specifically because the room had a mini fridge, since keeping insulin cold is very important for us. The fridge didn't work properly, and our insulin spoiled and can't be used anymore. Unacceptable.

After a long day, I was woken at about 6:30 on Sunday morning by sudden knocking. I was startled and frightened that someone was trying to get into my room, and I couldn't get back to sleep or rest. I raised the concern with management, but the manager initially ignored me. When I followed up, they were brusque, dismissive, and disrespectful. They said there was nothing they could do because my “safety” wasn't at risk just because a stranger had tried to access my room. They made no effort to put things right or offer any goodwill gesture.

Travelodge is still my go-to for holidays and staycations, even though I've tried a few other places in Nanaimo. I was born and raised in Harewood, so coming home feels special, and the manager and maids are all so friendly. They make me feel right at home, literally. I love going there for my Stat/Vac holidays!

A handy place for a quick stop in Nanaimo. The rooms were clean and nice, and the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent enough, with boiled eggs, muffins, and oatmeal.

There was a power outage across the hotel and much of the area because of strong winds before we arrived, and electricity didn't come back until around 3 a.m. I couldn't use the coffee or tea in my room that night, though it was clean, ready, and had an electric kettle. I was there for one night with colleagues. Breakfast was simple: boiled eggs, cake, tea, coffee, butter, and cheese. A backup generator would be helpful for a hotel in this kind of situation.
