Clifton Victoria Inn at the Falls

The staff made our stay especially pleasant. They were welcoming, helpful with our questions, and made sure things went smoothly. Our room was clean and well maintained, and the ongoing renovations didn’t disrupt our visit. Clifton Victoria Inn has an older style, but it’s kept up and has some charm. It’s comfortable, clean, and in a great location for Niagara Falls.

The waterpark pass is a huge draw. For about the price of a regular hotel room, a family of four can spend most of two days at the water park. We’ve returned every year for several years and plan to keep coming back. It’s a fun family stay, especially for kids, with an unusual layout: the shared space between the two buildings feels like an outdoor street. There’s a small pool with a neat blue light, a sauna, a glass-doored elevator, and balconies that open onto that indoor common area. The breakfast is a little better than continental, and there’s a microwave in the shared space for leftovers or popcorn. The hotel is clean and regularly tended, but it’s old and due for updates. The carpet has bald spots, the wallpaper is wrinkled, and there’s duct tape in a couple of places.

The location by the water park, free parking, and decent breakfast were the only good parts of our two-night stay. The hotel felt overcrowded both days, with the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors closed. It was extremely run down and poorly maintained, and management didn’t seem to keep up with basic cleanliness despite how busy the place was. The staff were grumpy and never smiled. Our neglected-looking room had very outdated chairs, a bed with broken springs, no microwave, cracks in the ceiling, and a strong air freshener smell that seemed to mask deeper hygiene problems. Cleanliness was poor throughout our stay, and the overall condition left us questioning how clean anything really was. This used to be our go-to in Niagara Falls, but I’d look elsewhere until they bring it back to how it was.

The water park was great, and the location worked well for us. We also liked the family room layout, and the beds were very comfortable. The room itself was clean, and the cleaning staff we met were pleasant and helpful, working hard. Still, there’s only so much they can do when the hotel is in this condition. The decor is extremely old and badly needs refreshing. The rugs were torn and loose, the curtains stained, and the main room light was broken. For the price, the location, room size, water park access, and free parking made it worthwhile.
