The staff were polite and helpful, and the location is decent, but I’ll probably choose another hotel from this chain next time. The place is old and needs updating. It almost feels like two hotels connected only by the indoor pool, which is odd. All three rooms our family booked had old heaters, presumably also used as air conditioners in summer, that were so loud they made a decent night’s sleep difficult. No one showed us how to use the older spa bath in our room. After a few problems, we started noticing more: the loose shower rail let the curtain fall into the bath and get in the way, and some wall patches hadn’t been painted properly. Breakfast was included, but the facilities couldn’t handle the crowd. The queue was huge, so we spent another $50 to eat instead of waiting for half the hotel. The vending machines had bill slots but wouldn’t take bills, and the front desk didn’t have enough change, so we could only get drinks for half our group. I got tired of dealing with it after a while.

For a February getaway, this was a good rate. The beds were comfortable, check-in was easy and friendly, and breakfast had hot items with attentive staff. I’d stay again. I do think it’s ridiculous that hotels charge guests extra for parking on top of their fees.

Check-in and checkout were both quick, and our room was clean when we arrived during our Friday-to-Tuesday stay. But parking at $25 a day felt steep, and there wasn’t much space over the weekend. The front entrance was closed, so we had to use the side door, and our key card stopped working at one point. Breakfast was disappointing and very limited. With a dairy allergy, I had little to eat besides bread, cold eggs, and sausages. There was no fruit, and some days the hot water for tea didn’t work. We tried the pool and hot tub for a few minutes, hoping the heat might help my injury, but both were incredibly dirty, even though we’d been told they were cleaned daily. The hot tub had what looked like skin flakes, hair, and bugs, and was very discoloured. The pool was shallow compared with my previous visits and in the same state. When we came back a day later, we were told it had been cleaned. The colour was the only thing that seemed different; there was still hair, bugs, and lots of flakes. We enjoyed the coupons for Vinny’s next door and loved the restaurant. We won’t return because the hotel’s quality has gone downhill since my last stay.

The location is amazing, and the beds were very comfortable, though the rooms are dated. The lobby was nice, but I didn’t feel very welcome by staff, who hardly smiled, even though they were attentive. If you’re not an early riser and need breakfast, this may not work for you. The dining area is tiny, and they post a 20 minute seating limit. Hardworking staff try to get everyone seated and out quickly. The hot tub was so dirty it put me off, though it had been cleaned by the next day. For hot water, you just have to be patient.
