We asked for an older-style room with the lovely heart-shaped tub, and it was just right. Not many places in the area still have that retro feel, and we hope it stays that way. The room was perfectly clean, and the staff were very kind and helpful. We'd highly recommend it.

We paid an extra $25 to move from the regular room they said we'd booked into one with a jet tub, and gave a $100 deposit because it was my boyfriend's birthday on February 16. Then, after I called reception around 10:30 a.m. the next day to ask about checkout, we were told late checkout after noon would cost $25 an hour. At about 1:22 p.m., police knocked on our door. They said the receptionist had called to check on us because the TV was loud and we'd ignored their knocks, but that was all lies. They must have called before 1 to get to our room just after 1. The cops called our family and made them worry, because Scott told them lies. We spoke with Scott, who said he'd thought we were dead because it was past noon and we hadn't confirmed checkout, despite my speaking with reception at 10. We were clearly still in the room, and the hotel had our deposit. Calling police was disrespectful and unnecessary. Police said staff had already gone into our room to check on us. They apologized for the misunderstanding and told us to take our time gathering our things. We've stayed in many hotels and never had anything like this happen. When we went to collect the deposit, they charged another $60 for the hour and a half past checkout. Our original $95 one-night stay became a $200 ordeal, with police called for no good reason after we'd told staff we'd check out late. They still kept our deposit, and we felt harassed, disrespected, and that our privacy had been violated. We're very unhappy with how it was handled.

We were just looking around the hotel, but the service persuaded us to book a room right then. There were two adults and a child in our group, and we had a great stay. It's a little old, but very clean and well cared for. Zuni was especially polite, friendly, and helpful, and made us feel welcome. I don't usually write reviews, but the customer service here deserved one. This will be our first choice next time we're in Niagara Falls.

The room was cold because the thermostat didn't work, and the fireplace was out of order. There was no safety grab rail in the shower. We stayed three nights and had to ask for housekeeping; when they came, the jacuzzi wasn't cleaned. The carpet was quite worn, there was only one chair and one bedside lamp, though there should have been two. The bed and bedding were good. We liked the location and the parking, though parking should be free.

We had a spacious, nicely appointed king room with plenty of room for two. It had two armchairs for sitting together over drinks or appies; they were worn, but I appreciated having them. The bed was neatly made, though the mattress needs replacing. The single-pane windows let in cool air, but thermal drapes and good heating kept the room warm. The sliding glass door opened onto a large balcony overlooking the Niagara River, and with a glance to the right, the American Falls. There's a small flat-screen TV and a fridge, but no microwave. The bathroom was very clean but dated, with plenty of towels. Renovations were underway, with a little related noise and smell, but it didn't bother us. The photos show a non-renovated room, which we still enjoyed. The pool was warm, clean, and wonderful, and the hot tub takes all of life's problems away. There's no restaurant on site or nearby, and despite what I'd read somewhere, no garage. Parking behind the hotel costs $15 a night, so you'll need to drive to any restaurant you can imagine.
