Ramada by Wyndham Nisku Edmonton Airport

I’ve stayed here twice and would come back. Getting to and from the airport is easy, the rooms are tidy and clean, and the restaurant has a great selection. My meal was cooked perfectly. The front desk staff have always been polite and answered my questions. I didn’t use the shuttle, though its schedule looked very accommodating.

The building’s a bit dated, but it has a homey feel. My daughter and I stayed one night, checking in very late, and the gentleman was ready for us. We were checked in within about five minutes. The room was very clean, the sheets were soft and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant stays open late. We didn’t eat there, but it was nice to have that option at midnight. There’s a continental breakfast too, and you can tell they take pride in the hotel. I’d stay again.

At 11 p.m. I had to drive around looking for food because only my child’s meal ever arrived. I finally lost patience and cancelled my order. We’d already waited over an hour, while three tables that came in after us were served first. When I asked about the delay, the cook said, “I’m not dancing, I’m working alone.” He then told me he would have served my child first if I’d mentioned that my child was hungry. Managing the order and providing proper service shouldn’t be the customer’s responsibility. The restaurant is called “Royal,” and half its menu wasn’t available. They should have told us before seating us. The dining area was poorly managed and service was chaotic. Management needs to review the restaurant’s operations and staffing. The room had several problems too: half the power outlets didn’t work, there was visible rust in multiple places, and the shower barely worked properly. It needs serious maintenance and upgrades. Overall, this Ramada location fell well below the standard I expect from a Ramada property. Very disappointing.

Fine for an overnight layover if you need somewhere affordable and mostly clean. The water gets very hot and the room was comfortable, and it’s close to the airport. The bathtub is very small. One of the larger towels had black stains, and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash came in single-use 22oz/.75ml bottles.
