Franklin Motel & Trailer Park

The owner was very nice, and after I arrived at 1.00am, they left the key in my room and handled the paperwork when I checked out. The grounds were so quiet I slept until 10. It's a convenient spot by the lakeshore and the south end of downtown, with a Metro grocery store just 20 meters away. For my Toronto trip, I was surprised that an 80dollar motel could be this good. The old building had no strange smell, and the blanket was quite clean. Still, the shower towels looked a little dark and yellow, so I'm not sure how often they change them. The things in the suite were quite old and not clean. The mosquitoes were huge, strong, and pretty crazy. They flew into my room as soon as I opened the door. I'd suggest the owner try something like a UV light to deal with them. I'd come back next time because it was worth it.

We booked site 41 for four nights, starting on the Thursday of a long weekend, but when we arrived in our campervan, they'd given it to someone else. They offered us another site, but it wasn't on the river. It ruined our long weekend. Thank goodness for Ontario Provincial Parks. I would never reserve at this campground again.

The beach is right across the street if you'd rather swim there, and there are lots of things for kids to do. We had a nice time, and the kids and I had tons of fun. The place was clean, the staff were friendly and kind, and the pool was clean and open daily until 9pm. Our room was large enough, with a front door and a patio at the back, plus plenty of hot water for showers. It had a mini fridge and microwave, but no coffee or coffee maker. We'll be back next year for sure.
