Comfort Inn Lakeshore

We had a welcoming check-in and a good first night, but the final night completely changed how I feel about this hotel. As a long-time hockey family that's travelled to many tournaments, this was without question our worst hotel experience. I wouldn't recommend staying here with children, especially with a hockey team. The front desk clerk on duty that evening was rude and unprofessional, and seemed to make up rules as she went. Around 7:30 pm, the kids were reprimanded for walking too loudly in the hallway, even though they weren't running or being disruptive. They were also told they couldn't sit quietly in the lobby. It felt like everyone was expected to stay shut in their rooms. A snowstorm was getting worse, so leaving wasn't an option. The way we were treated made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, almost like prisoners instead of paying guests. For a hotel that regularly hosts families and sports teams, that lack of professionalism and tolerance is unacceptable. Based on our experience, we wouldn't return, and I'd strongly caution other families about booking here.

Everything was nice and clean, and there were no strange smells. Check-in was quick and easy, and the free breakfast was good. Both the room and bathroom looked recently renovated and were very clean. The beds weren't especially comfortable, though they weren't too bad. Good value for the price, and we'd definitely come back if we're in the area.

We wanted an inexpensive room for one night while in North Bay on a scouting trip, and also tried our hand at photography. For $94 plus $13 tax on a Tuesday in the off-season, we got two large double beds. Check-in staff were very helpful, and the beds were comfortable, no complaints. We hadn't had breakfast yet while writing this, but I'd recommend the hotel to someone watching their budget.

I stayed here Jan 1-3, and breakfast was free. One thing puzzled me: I left with the TV on and came back to find it off. Not sure if someone came in, but nothing was missing after my stay, so it's fine. It was also nice having my car right outside the door lol!
