Glenwood Motel and Cottages

Right on Lake Nipissing, the motel has an incredible location, with sunrises, water activities, and direct beach access that stretches to the nearby conservation area. Check-in was quick and easy. Our large, clean room had two comfortable double beds, clean linen, extra pillows in the closet, a fridge, microwave, and decent-sized TV. There were lots of windows with good curtains, and parking right by the door was handy. It's a dated place from another era, with larger rooms, but it wasn't really missing anything except a hair dryer. The motel has about a dozen rooms and three cabins. The owners clearly take pride in it, with lots of gardens, seating areas, and a ramp down to the beach.

The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept on in a hotel, with fluffy pillows and really soft blankets. My husband and I stayed in cute little cottage 2. Derive was amazing, so nice and helpful, and the place was very clean. The sandy beach was nice and clean too. We'll definitely go back.

The room was very spacious and cheap, with huge windows giving an amazing view of Lake Kipissing. There's a private, secluded beach too. The manager was the sweetest hotel operator I've met. It was an outstanding stay, and I'd travel a long way to come back. If you can, book the room on the lake front.

The location is stunning, and I think the space could be great under future owners, but my experience with the Glenwood Motel was very unpleasant. While asking about room rates and availability, the owner stayed on a call with someone else and tried to serve me at the same time. He was extremely rude and came across as racist. His responses were incoherent and hard to understand. When I kept asking questions, he repeatedly yelled, "all rooms full," until I had to leave. I found somewhere else to stay, then passed the motel the next morning at 9 am. There were only three vehicles in the lot, which made me think rooms might actually have been available. I strongly advise against staying there because of the owner's disgraceful behavior and what looked like a misrepresentation of availability.
