Coast Oliver Hotel

The location was great for getting around on foot, and there’s a lovely trail right nearby. The first night was a problem, though. A team of young boys staying at the hotel seemed basically unsupervised, running through the halls and on the stairs. When we tried to use the pool, they’d taken over, running around it and doing cannonballs. No adults or parents were supervising, and none of the staff stepped in. Fortunately, they were there only that first night. I’ll check next time.

I only accepted the rate because I had no other option for my stay, and I begrudgingly paid it. I also had trouble connecting to my office through my work VPN. I would stay again, but only if the room rate were substantially lower.

The complimentary breakfast was lukewarm to cold, and the beds were so firm that sleeping was difficult. On the plus side, the pool and hot tub area was very clean and had plenty of towels. The hotel is relatively new and up to date, and the front desk staff were nice and informative.

The staff are always friendly, and the breakfast is good. Still, after staying at the Coast Oliver for many years, I can say it isn’t the hotel it used to be. The rooms are deteriorating, with damage left unrepaired, and there always seems to be some kind of issue. The pool was closed for repairs on our last visit, and this time the hot tub was out of order.
