The building’s thin walls make it hard to get any peace or privacy. You can hear everything from the hallway and neighboring apartments. The study room is freezing, and noise in shared spaces makes it hard to concentrate. Even the ping pong and pool tables are poorly maintained, with missing or broken balls and damaged cues. The apartments feel tiny, cheaply built, and badly laid out for the rent. I paid about $1125 while seeing the same kind of unit advertised online for around $500. Residents were also encouraged to post 5-star reviews for a $20 incentive, which makes the ratings feel misleading. Things were a mess from move-in. We arrived with all our belongings and were then told our assigned apartment had pests, so we had to switch rooms at the last minute. Laundry machines are nearly always broken, and the water is regularly cold. In the middle of winter, a leak led to the heat and water being shut off. I had a fever at the time, which made an already unacceptable situation even more stressful. I eventually had to leave and stay with my parents, but they wouldn’t let me end the lease early. I’m still paying rent while living four hours from Ottawa. Between the ongoing maintenance problems, the poor condition of the amenities, and the high cost, I regret living here. The place looks much better online than it is, so future tenants should research carefully before signing.

The virtual tour option was especially helpful. I could look around the unit and ask questions without having to visit in person. The leasing process was straightforward, and the team responded quickly and acted professionally. My experience with 1Eleven has been excellent.

Everything I need is close by, with a train station nearby and plenty to do on Elgin. For someone moving out of their parents’ home for the first time, especially while going to school, this has been a great place to live. The rent includes electricity, water, heating and AC, plus maintenance. When something needs fixing, I just submit a request through the resident portal and they come take care of it. The gym is free for residents, there’s a lobby bookshelf with interesting things to read, and they hold free activities for residents once a month. The staff and management are lovely and work hard to keep the building clean and safe. They’re also always looking for ways to improve it. I highly recommend living here.

The rent seems fairly reasonable for somewhere this close to UOttawa, and the cleaning staff are friendly and kind. I live in a Single apartment and have had a good experience during the year I’ve been here. The negative reviews made me hesitate when I first signed the lease, but none of those problems have happened on my floor. I have nothing but good things to say about 1Eleven.

The walk to campus is short and scenic, and groceries, transit, cafes, and quiet places to study or relax are all nearby. The area felt safe and walkable when I toured. I haven’t moved in yet, but I’ve signed the lease and can’t wait. The location, views, and units made a stronger impression on me than the other student buildings I looked at. The tour itself was great. The staff were kind and helpful, took their time showing me around, and answered all my questions. The units I saw were bright, beautiful, and thoughtfully laid out. The common areas were spotless, the hallways quiet, and the building seemed clean and well cared for. It had a calm, welcoming feel and seemed well managed, more like a supportive residence than other student housing I’ve seen. For the price and what’s included, it seemed hard to beat. It felt like a convenient, peaceful place where a student could focus on school and feel comfortable coming home. I’d recommend it to students looking for that kind of environment.
