Comfort Inn Kanata Ottawa West

Parking was a mess. There were no open spots, and security told me to park in a snowbank beside a fire hydrant. When I refused, they directed me to a spot meant for another room. The room didn’t feel clean: the sink drained poorly, the shower had no shampoo and weak pressure, and there were sequins on the bed. It needs a deep clean. The noisy heating unit woke me each time it came on. A hockey team was tossing a tennis ball in the hallway at 11 p.m. They stopped respectfully when we walked by, but it shouldn’t have been happening that late. I also tried to use the workout room, but it was closed. It took almost 30 minutes to get it open, since the key card didn’t work and the deadbolt was locked.

The room was comfortable and really clean. Breakfast was a nice extra, with plenty of variety and good food. And the coffee was hot! ☕️😋

We came to Ottawa to tour the university, and the service and hotel were fine. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The one thing I’d suggest is fixing the lighting at the front left corner of the parking lot. Maybe it’s been fixed since, but it left that area dark and feeling a bit less safe at night.

The room was comfortable and clean, and having a sliding door straight out to our vehicle was especially handy with our puppy. We were in town from out of town because our dog was having a procedure at the animal hospital down the street. Richard at the front desk was wonderful. He arranged an early check-in and the ground-floor room we’d asked for, then took his time welcoming us and pointing out places to eat and shop nearby. He was warm and caring, and asked about our dog’s surgery. Breakfast was included and had more than we expected, with lots of options. Everything was tidy and well stocked. We had a lovely stay and Richard made us feel at home. Thank you for having us!
