Best Western Plus Ottawa City Centre

It took 45 minutes before I could check in, and the staff were rude, condescending, and judgmental. I drove six hours to Ottawa by myself for school, and when my credit card wouldn't work for the deposit, the employee asked if I'd forgotten my code or had insufficient funds. Neither was true. I called my mom, who wanted to speak to the manager, but we were told the manager was too busy. Then they asked her to drive up with another card, even though we live six hours away, before telling me to sit and wait for someone else. A woman named sherri offered to let me pay $250 by debit, but said I'd have to check out early to get my money back. She scolded me for not knowing about the deposit. I did know, and explained that it was my card that wasn't working. When I said my Mother had booked through Expedia, she scolded my mother too, saying she should have known a deposit was required. I had to explain for the fourth time that the problem was my card. They made both of us feel like idiots, and I felt awful. I had to be up at 7 the next morning, but the loud hallways and banging walls meant I slept no more than two hours all night. I've never stayed at such a terrible hotel with staff this rude. My family and I love best western hotels, so I'll return to them, but definitely not this location.

The hotel was quiet and clean, with a good-sized room and great parking. Its location near the highway worked well for us. We appreciated the free water bottles since I dislike paying for water at a hotel. We had planned to eat at the cafe, but the food was so basic that we drove somewhere else.

My experience at Best Western Plus was great. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and there was plenty of shopping within walking distance. The rooms were beautiful, spacious, and very clean, with WiFi included. Breakfast at the Cafe was delicious, with huge portions. There's also a gym and a pool, though the pool is outdoors and only for summer use. I highly recommend it.

The front desk staff member was professional, welcoming, and helpful the whole time. He made check-in easy and patiently answered all our questions. I really appreciated his kindness and efficiency.
