The owners were welcoming, and the check-in turned out to be easy even though I’d been nervous because I hadn’t received instructions beforehand. Breakfast was included, with simple vegetarian options. I liked the dairy products, cereal, and baked toast. The owners also have two lovely dogs now, so if dogs make you uncomfortable for any reason, it’s best to tell the property ahead of time and arrange things in advance. The house is old, so its facilities may not match newer places, but it was generally fine. Its age could appeal if you want to experience an older house. The washroom had been updated recently and was clean, which matters to me, and I’m generally picky about bathrooms. There’s a good selection of restaurants, pubs, and other places to eat nearby, as well as the Museum of Nature. The location is generally good: not close to the O Train, but bus stops are a few minutes away on foot, and driving from the airport is easy. I also liked that the house rules were flexible rather than strict, as can happen at some B&Bs.

I was there on my own in April 2024 and felt welcome and safe with the very nice hosts. The room was lovely, and the bed was comfortable. Great morning coffee too. The location is ideal, close to lots of things to do.

The gluten-free breakfast was promised to be yummy in an email after I booked weeks ahead and told them about my diet. What I actually got was instant coffee, orange juice, and a Clementine. Not yummy. The kitchen was disgusting, the carpets weren’t clean, and the place was cluttered. There was no air conditioning or TV. I was there for a conference, so I had breakfast at the hotel over the next couple of days. My husband went out for a good breakfast too. I won’t return or recommend this B&B.

The hosts are what make this B&B a gem. They’re a lovely couple who treat you like family and make your stay special. They know Ottawa and its history incredibly well, and are happy to suggest restaurants, shops, entertainment, museums, historic sites, and other points of interest. I’ve stayed with them many times. It’s a beautiful, well-kept, clean century home, right across from the museum. Parliament buildings, historic sites, and many other places of interest are within walking distance. Priceless!

The owners are incredibly friendly and make you feel like part of their family. The home is beautiful, with eccentric decor, and they’re warm and hospitable. I first booked because it’s so close to downtown, but I’ll definitely come back because of the people running it.
