I only planned to stay for two weeks, but I ended up volunteering for a full year, which says plenty about how much I enjoyed it. The location is excellent and everything is close by. Room prices are very reasonable, and the hospitality is consistently great. The staff and volunteers are welcoming and make it feel like a community. Even if you're shy at first, they'll make an effort to help you feel included and comfortable. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Ottawa.

Hiya! I'm a 20-year-old solo traveller, and reading the reviews right before bed yesterday was, ironically, not a wise idea. Some people described feeling unsafe in the neighbourhood or uncomfortable around rude staff and guests. My own experience over two days was different. I'm an early bird and sometimes walk the streets at 6 am. The least safe I felt was near a relaxed guy walking his pitbull, mostly because dogs aren't really my thing. The other guests were nice to me, and the staff were super friendly and multilingual. It might be different because I came in winter, and that doesn't discredit anyone else's experience. For the price I paid, I'd definitely recommend this place. Hope that helps!

My bus was delayed by a technical problem, and I arrived close to midnight. They had left an envelope with all the instructions I needed, so I wasn't confused and everything went smoothly. I really appreciated the kind, professional service and the way they arranged my stay. Thanks again, I loved it ❤️.
