Bow Manor Motor Hotel

The one good thing was that the gentleman refunded me immediately after I showed him the room photos and said there was no way I could sleep there. He apologized, too. I was nearly in tears because I had so few options where I was. A tent with nothing to sleep on was the alternative, but after seeing that room I’d rather have slept on the ground. I don’t blame the cleaning staff, since the room itself seemed impossible to get properly clean. The place is a motel, with doors opening to the outside. There was one staff member sitting in the bar, and he seemed to run the hotel as well. He was nice, but the building is rundown and shoddy, and should be condemned. My room cost $113, and I wouldn’t have paid $1 to stay there. I checked the bed before deciding whether I could stay. There was an insect, maybe a worm or maggot, crawling inside the covers near the pillow. Under the mattress cover, the mattress looked very old and never replaced, covered with dust, other people’s skin cells, dirt, and stains. The sheets were just as bad. In the bathroom there were old towels, one of each. The curtains, if you can call them that, were held together with a binder clip, and a huge dead spider was stuck to one. The room smelled stale, and the furniture looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 1960s. Some pieces looked handmade, including the pallet the bed sat on. The TV was decent and the fridge was okay, but everything else was disgusting. There were boarded-up windows and dirty, yellowed, rusty A/C units packed with dust and grime. They seemed unsafe. The owners should lose their license for expecting people to stay in a place like this at those rates. They charge about what a normal Motel 6 or Ramada would, even though the building apparently used to have a restaurant and cafe that did really well years ago. From what I heard, the current owners haven’t renovated or maintained it. They seem to care about keeping the jukebox and current lighting in the bar going. It’s unsanitary and should be shut down.
