Ocean Sands Resort

Our unit was clean and had everything we needed. Management were helpful and easy to get along with. OSR is right on the beach, with plenty of walks nearby, a playground for kids and a pool if you'd rather use that. A great place to stay whether you have children or not.

The best thing here is the location. You're right beside the beach, close to Parksville, restaurants, groceries, adult beverages, the great Parksville playground, mini-golf and lots of fun day trips. At high-season prices, you may be paying more for the space and location than the amenities. There's a small pool, a hot tub we didn't sell, and laundry at a reasonable price. A basketball net was nice to have. It would be better with guest sign-out water gear like SUPs, kayaks, tubes or boogie boards. We left our boogie board behind, since they cost $50 and don't fit in suitcases. Other resorts on the same beach at similar prices provide those, and rental bikes would be nice too. We had a great half-week at Ocean Sands in unit 112, a large two-bedroom, one-bath unit on the top floor facing the beach. The two bedrooms had what I believe was a king bed and a double. The kids claimed the king and loved it; the other bed could've been more comfortable, though it wasn't uncomfortable. There was a comfortable seating area, a large TV, a nice kitchen with a dishwasher, and an electric BBQ on the balcony. No laundry in the unit, and no AC, which was a challenge when we got unusually warm weather in Nuky 2025. There's one parking spot per unit. The view was incredible, especially at sunrise. The beach section near Rathtrevor seemed sandier at the water's edge, with fewer tide pools, shells and small seaweed areas, which could be a pro or a con. The tide goes way out, and watching it come back was something else. Our kids spent hours looking for crabs and sea dollars and then watching it return. It came in faster at this southern end. We'd definitely recommend the place and hope they add location-friendly amenities for future guests.

We can't wait to return next year after our amazing week at Ocean Sands Resort. Our suite, 310 & 310A, was beautifully renovated and had the most incredible water view. The location couldn't be better!

The ocean-front rooms are easily the nicest for the views and peaceful feel. Some of the units are managed by Ocean Sands. The resort shows its age, but it's still kept in reasonably good condition.
