We spent over $550 for two nights in August and felt completely ripped off. The room was dated and dirty, and we heard every footstep from the room above. Washing machines in the laundry room, which shared a wall with the head of our bed, ran past midnight. When we wiped the dark laminate floor, the towels turned black. The oven had oven cleaner sprayed on it that hadn't been wiped off, and the fridge blocked the microwave door unless we lifted the microwave to open it. The sofa bed was old, dirty and creaky whenever my son moved. We bought new bedding to cover it completely, and the sheet was so wrinkled we concluded it might not have been changed. The dinner table felt grimy when we wiped it, and parking was limited and unassigned. We complained to the hostess and got a 15% discount. She said she'd email the owners to ask whether we could get more and follow up the next week, but she never did. Two weeks later, we followed up and spoke with Jody, who said she'd get back to us but didn't. We called again a week later and spoke with Jody, who said the owners wouldn't give any further discount. This was the worst motel experience we've ever had. We feel we should warn others. The one-star reviews seemed like the real ones to us, and we wondered whether some of the three- and four-star reviews might be fake.

We were booked for one night, arriving Thursday August 4, 2025 and due to leave Friday August 5,2025. We got there at 9pm. The parking lot was full, and people were gathered in the central garden enjoying the evening. That part wasn't a problem, but the strong smell of weed and cigarettes put us off. When we entered with our bags and two dogs, stale cigarette odor hit us. The sofa and dining chairs were badly stained and smelled too awful for us to touch. The sink looked like it hadn't had a proper scrub in years. Left on top of the fridge were the previous guests' cheese and coffee cream, spoiling in the summer heat. The bedroom carpet hadn't been vacuumed either. Popsicle sticks were plainly visible along the floor at the bed's perimeter. We could hear everything from the unit above through the floors and ceiling. We didn't stay the night. We returned the key and left. I don't understand the great ratings except perhaps for the location right beside the beach. Management never called or emailed to acknowledge our complaints, and no refund was issued. Thanks to Booking.com, we got a small amount back, but it didn't cover the cost of the night we did not spend at this disgusting motel.

Location seems to be the one thing this place has going for it. I stayed with friends in August 2025, and the room was probably the dirtiest I've encountered. The furniture was dated, from the 70-80's, which would have been okay if the rooms were clean. The pull-out couch was filthy and smelled strongly of urine, and we couldn't sleep or even sit on it. In a floor-level corner, there was a huge nest of spider webs that looked years old, with lots of dead bugs caught in it. Dozens more dead bugs were on the baseboard heaters and windowsills, and more lay along the carpet by the wall. The floors clearly hadn't been vacuumed or washed. Most of the dishes in the cupboards were still dirty, and the bathtub was filthy, with dead bugs stuck to the shower walls. We went to the front desk to speak with the manager about another issue. The clerk said the manager was away until the next day, but another staff member came in and said that wasn't true. We ended up speaking to the manager about the other matter. Dogs are allowed, which is great, but owners didn't seem to be required to leash them, or it wasn't enforced. Several large dogs ran loose in the courtyard while their owners were in their rooms. Watch your step, since owners and staff don't clean up after the dogs either.

The extra touches made this motel a great stay. Guests had a water cooler, an air compressor for floaties and even an ice cream shop, plus a big central seating and outdoor dining area with large BBQs. Lots of people gathered there once the heat eased. My friend and I enjoyed our visit; the rooms were clean and stocked, and checking in and out was easy. Amanda was one of the nicest people I've met. Thanks for calling to check on me when I was running late! Motels are everywhere, but Beachside has little extras that make it special. I highly recommend it.
