Rowena's Retreat

I’m very picky, but Rowena and Fred made us feel better cared for than anywhere else I’ve stayed. The price was more than fair for what they provide, and the whole place is set up for a relaxing visit. We started each day with a leisurely breakfast on the balcony, enjoying the view, attentive service, and fresh, healthy food that was beautifully prepared. Rowena’s optional dinners were a fantastic way to end the day, and her skill in the kitchen showed in every meal. I tried a bed and breakfast once thirty years ago and had such a bad time I never went back, until now. Rowena’s was the complete opposite. If you’re in Penticton and want to be pampered a bit, stay here.

Rowena made us an enormous, delicious breakfast and was thoughtful about accommodating our food sensitivities. We stayed upstairs, with the bathroom a little way down the hall from the main floor. At first we weren’t sure how private it would feel, but they gave us a screen to put between our space and the rest of the house. Everyone was respectful, so it worked out great. Rowena and Fred were wonderful hosts, and we’d definitely stay with them again.

We’ve been back to stay with Rowena and Fred five times now, and plan to return again soon. The cozy getaway is comfortable and nicely appointed, with everything impeccable and the breakfasts amazing. If you get to try one of Rowena’s five-star dinners, you’ll be thinking about your next visit before long. They both go above and beyond to make the stay memorable. Aleasa & Geoff Tasker

Rowena's Retreat gave us a truly memorable stay. The food was fantastic, and both hosts were warm and gracious. Rowena’s attention to detail and signature cooking were excellent, with wonderful service, presentation, atmosphere, and a great view. We’ll keep coming back and will definitely recommend it.
