Best Western Plus Otonabee Inn

Whenever we’re in Peterborough, this is our go-to hotel. It’s a clean, good hotel, but the staff are what make the difference. The front desk goes out of its way to make the stay a good one, and the kitchen staff are great about getting what you need or restocking the breakfast bar. We’ve noticed some staff have been here a long time. It seems management treats them well, and that shows.

We stayed in a 2 Queen rm on the 3rd floor, and the room was exceptionally clean, carpets included. The website photos make the rooms look outdated, but ours had a mini-fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee/tea machine, and a little kitchenette nook with counter and cupboard. We visited in winter, though next time I’d like a room facing the river and lovely park out back. The staff were fantastic, especially Hazel at the Front Desk, who was so friendly and helpful. Everyone seemed to genuinely care about service, which feels rare these days. The pool area was spotless and well maintained, with a slightly heated pool and a deep end, plus a hot, clean hot tub. There were chairs and tables, and the change room and shower were clean too, no broken tiles, hair, or grime. There’s an elevator in the lobby and luggage trolleys available. Breakfast was good: fruit, bagels and toast, fresh hot oatmeal, yogurt, cream cheese, sausage and egg patties for making a Tims style egg sandwich. The lobby coffee vending machine also had free lattes, cappuccino, and flavoured specialty coffees. Best mid-range hotel I’ve stayed at. Thank you, Best Western staff! We highly recommend it.

The classic rooms at the back, facing the river/water, are my favourite. They’re an older style, but roomy, with fresh air, a balcony, and a beautiful view. We stayed for a girls hockey tournament and found the hotel fantastic, with helpful staff, excellent facilities, a clean pool, and a super convenient location. One-Eyed-Jacks next door is excellent too, and hard to beat for convenience. Highly recommended if you’re staying in town.

The staff were so positive and happy to chat, and they really wanted to make the stay a good one. Breakfast was the best I’ve had at a hotel, and there’s free coffee, hot chocolate, and more 24/7. Thank you all.
