Canadas Best Value Inn Prince George

I liked being able to park right beside my ground-floor pet room, and the neighborhood itself was fine. I heard no outside noise or traffic. The room smelled nice when I arrived, wasn’t dusty or smelly, and the tub and shower wall were very clean. The bedding and bathroom were clean, the pillows smelled fresh and sanitized, and I appreciated the nice shampoo. The main problem was noise from inside: the walls were thin, I heard every bathroom sound, and the heater blower was so loud it woke me up. I had to turn it off and sleep under my sweater and coat. The guy above got up at 4:00 a.m., and the one next door was up at 6:00. Reception felt down to earth and realistic. Some equipment was worn and could use replacing. The coffee maker worked, though there was crust around the station tray that could have been wiped away. I noticed one cigarette burn and a few other details that needed better cleaning. Still, for a three-star hotel, it was okay.

I usually choose this place because it’s affordable, clean, and fairly comfortable. But the housekeepers were rude about the 11am checkout. I got into Prince George late while travelling and didn’t check in until nearly 1am, then they knocked at 9am, again at 10, and once more at 10:30. That’s two hours before checkout, and being disturbed every half hour felt really disrespectful. It may be cheap, but if you want a quieter morning and some privacy, I’d spend the extra $20-$30 somewhere else.

For an unplanned stop on a mandatory road trip, we had a surprisingly wonderful night in Prince George. The room was spacious, clean, well equipped, and had a very comfortable bed. Booking was easy and check-in was friendly. They even happily lent us a kettle for our bodum and tea. The value was incredibly good, and nearby there’s great East Indian food and pizza at Prime Pizza and Tiffin, a brew pub called Deadfall, and an EV charging mecca at College of New Caledonia.

The motel sits in a quiet area, with various public amenities nearby, which is convenient. The staff were respectful and accommodating, and for the price it’s pretty good value. One thing seemed odd and a bit out of date: for the security deposit, they write down your credit card number instead of placing a temporary electronic hold like most inns do.
