Right in the heart of Old Quebec, the inn had that old-world French charm. Our hosts were warm and accommodating about our poor French, so they spoke with us in English and pointed out the sights and good restaurants around town. The room and breakfast were both excellent, and we had everything we needed. It was a splendid stay, and we’d definitely come again.

The location of Chez Marie Claire bed and breakfast is especially handy for tourists. Many places, including Chateau Frontenac, The Funicular, Erico chocolate museum, The Citadelle, and lots of restaurants are just five minutes away. There’s also parking for hotel guests. The old-fashioned atmosphere made it feel like visiting Europe, and breakfast had plenty to choose from, including French toast or eggs, fruit, jams, cheese, ham, toast, and cereal for kids. Our room was very clean and spacious, with three comfortable queen beds for five people. There are stairs to reach it, which might be hard for older people. Shoes aren’t allowed inside to keep snow and mud off the carpets, so bring slippers. There were spare used ones there. One major drawback was the lack of a reception desk and phones in the room. There was just a worker who wasn’t always available. Still, I’d recommend staying here, and visiting the places I listed too.

Magalie, the caretaker, has exceptional customer service skills and made us feel at home with fresh, warm breakfast every morning. The place was tidy and very clean, and the location is great for exploring old Quebec. We had a really comfortable stay.

A cute, cozy place with a nice breakfast spread. We don’t speak French and the hosts didn’t speak English, so we got by with gestures and Google Translate! Parking in the back was free, but we had to tandem park and leave the keys in the foyer so they could move other cars. Our double-queen room on the 3rd floor had a nearly see-through bathroom door, and it didn’t block sound either. That cost it a star.

Hervé was a kind, welcoming host at this quaint B&B in Old Quebec. It’s easy to walk to plenty of restaurants and activities from here. The rooms were very clean and each had its own bathroom. Breakfast was included, with enough options to suit most people, and parking was free.
