Hôtel Atypiq

The cook-your-own breakfast was different, but amazing. They supply basics like bread, eggs, and fruit, plus utensils, pots, and pans in a bright, open kitchen. This was by far the most unique hotel I've stayed in, in a fantastic location just minutes on foot from great restaurants and the heart of old Quebec City. The room is compact but has what a traveler needs, and there are some great outdoor sitting areas. The bed is actually on the roof when you enter, but you can easily bring it down when needed. If you're taller or larger, this room option might not suit you. We'd highly recommend this AtypiQ experience and location.

The central kitchen stays open 24/7, which made it a great place to start the day or grab a bite later. We spent five days in QC and loved our time here. The hotel is charming and centrally located, the rooms are quaint and clean, and the rooftop patio is a nice bonus. We'd absolutely stay again.

The staff at the front desk were warm and friendly, and that helped make this a good stay. The location is excellent, with almost every tourist spot within a 15-minute walk. Our room was small but clean, though several things didn't work properly: the bathroom fan, AC, and TV. Only a few channels came in, but at least we could connect a phone. The Wi-Fi worked well. Breakfast is self-serve and available all day, with limited choices. There's also a shared kitchen where you can bring your own food to cook. I nearly gave the place three stars because the room's condition didn't seem worth the price, but the hospitality made a difference.

The location is excellent, close to attractions and easy to find, and checkout went smoothly with a different receptionist who was attentive and helpful. The room was clean and the towels fresh, but for the price I expected a more comfortable room and better service. Check-in was frustrating: the receptionist didn't help when the machine failed, and we only got through the process after another guest suggested asking for help. Luggage storage in the basement had no identification tags. When we returned at 5pm, the manual elevator seemed unusual, the room felt very small, and the bed setup was awkward enough that we bumped ourselves while arranging our things. The sink and mirror made the bathroom less practical, and poor soundproofing meant we could hear neighbors moving their bed late at night and early in the morning.
