Hôtel Motel Le Regent Québec city

The gentleman running the place was a sweetheart, and the bathroom was very clean. Those are the two stars for me. I kept waking up, probably four times before 6 a.m., because the room was hard to sleep in. It swung between freezing and hot, and the AC didn't get rid of the humidity. The curtains let in all the outside light, the mattress was too hard, and our room had no smoke alarm. It looks like renovations may be underway, so maybe things will improve. The place has potential if they fix a few things.

This was my worst motel experience in Canada. There was no receptionist available full-time, so both check-in and checkout took a long time. The room wasn't properly cleaned, and there was no drinking water. There was no HVAC either, so good luck staying here in a cold winter or hot summer. The motel needs major renovations and better services.

I called with a question before booking, and the man at the front desk wouldn't answer me. He kept trying to end the call and was extremely dismissive. The customer service was the worst I've experienced. I'm glad I called first, because I won't book here.

The front desk man was friendly, and our room was clean and comfortable. We got the $100 deposit back before leaving. I was nervous about staying after reading so many reviews, and the neighborhood, which seemed to be up and coming, made me a little uneasy too. The hotel is an eight-minute drive from the city centre, and you get what you pay for. I'd probably spend another $20-30 to stay downtown.
